How it Works
Based on the premise that most travel prices are set to allow the payment of a commission to a seller of travel from 10 to 25 percent or more, this site gives most of that back to travelers who handle their own arrangements directly with the travel provider. In effect, direct-booking travelers save most of the commission that would have been paid out by the travel operator. These savings are achieved using a “TopTravelVoucher.”
Any travel operator may join the program by simply supplying their own travel vouchers, which is done online. The site suggests that the values be attractive to travelers but no less than the commission that would have been paid out. The program encourages and rewards travelers who are comfortable with direct bookings by Internet, telephone, fax or at the place of business of the travel provider. The vouchers are offered for sale at price levels of $ 30, $ 50 or $ 100 USD (or equivalent in the country of purchase). One voucher, valued at 1,500 euros sells for $ 100 USD.
This program is open to all travel businesses, from small B&B’s and Day-Tours to Luxury Lodges and Extended Tour Operators. “There are many travel operators around the world who deserve better representation,” Humphrey says. “And now TopTravelVouchers and gift certificates will be able to achieve this for them.”
Travel providers may offer as many vouchers as they wish for any travel products or services available on their Web sites, and travelers are invited to buy vouchers when they have checked for quality and availability of the travel product. All vouchers come with a 100 percent money-back guarantee, and if the traveler is unhappy with the product even after the travel has been completed, they are able to get reimbursement of the cost of the vouchers.
“There are thousands of travel Web sites available, including only a few prominent Web travel giants,” says Humphrey. “I think it is refreshing to find an original concept that offers real incentives and savings for travelers while giving valuable exposure and new sales opportunities to travel operators and expert travel agents, both large and small, around the world.”
Humphrey adds that with no charge for joining, no risk to travel providers and excellent savings for travelers, the site’s Fair Fare Prices program may be seen as a way to offset some of the increasing costs of travel from pump prices to fuel surcharges.
